OML 30 remains shut as Heritage Energy keeps mute

The Oil Mining Lease, OML 30 operated by Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited, HEOSL has remained shut by the host communities in Isoko South Local Government of Delta State, NewsNet reports.

The OML 30 was shut down barely a week ago by the host communities following what they described as unabated operational misconduct and deliberate refusal by the firm to implement provisions of the Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMOU it entered into with them.

NewsNet investigations revealed that before the shut down of the oil facility, authorities of Isoko South Local Government had intervened severally without the company keeping its own side of the bargain.

A source told the medium that even the Delta State government through the Ministry of Justice has also intervened but, the company keeps reneging on agreements reached for healthy and interrupted operations in the communities.

According to the dependable source, “Over the years the company has not behaved well as it signs GMOU with the communities based on mutual understanding devoid coerce but end up not fulfilling the agreements.

“GMOU funds have not been paid, contractors are not being paid, Local Content not adhere to, thereby creating crisis in the council area for the government to handle,” said the source who prefers to remain anonymous.

NewsNet has not been able to verify these claims against Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited as a phone number obtained from a source to contact the company was unreachable as at the time of filing this report.
