The National Executive Committee (NEC) of Evwreni Clan Improvement Union (ECIU) has approved the constitution of a Peace and Reconciliation Committee over a crisis, which in the past engulfed Evwreni Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

This was part of the major outcomes of a meeting of the ECIU NEC held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Eni Hall in Evwreni Kingdom.

The peace move, according to the Union, is to fashion out the best and most appropriate ways to bring back love and brotherliness in the kingdom.

On the implementation of the Delta State Government White Paper on the Evwreni Kingdom Crisis, the NEC acknowledged the enormous benefits derivable from the implementation of the recommendations of the white paper especially in the areas of payment of compensation to persons whose properties were destroyed and/or burnt and the disarmament and installation of new vigilante which will be done in no distant time in conjunction with relevant government agencies.

Another resolution reached by the ECIU NEC was the review and amendment of the 2016 ECIU constitution to accommodate emerging issues.

To achieve this, it was resolved that a committee be put in place to help prepare a review draft for consideration and/or adoption.
