Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has paid glowing tributes to his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, on his 67th birthday, and to the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, HRM Stanley Perediegha Luke-Kalanama VIII (JP), as the revered monarch celebrates his 60th birthday anniversary.
In separate goodwill messages by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor described both celebrants as distinguished leaders whose decades of service have left enduring legacies in governance, leadership, peace-building and the development of Delta State.
Congratulating Senator Okowa, Oborevwori praised the former governor’s remarkable journey through public service, noting that he rose from Secretary of the defunct Ika Local Government Council to pioneer Chairman of Ika North-East Local Government Council, Commissioner, Secretary to the State Government, Senator of the Federal Republic and eventually Governor of Delta State for two consecutive terms.
The governor said Okowa’s wealth of experience, strategic leadership and unwavering commitment to public service have earned him a respected place in the political history of Delta State.
According to him, the former governor’s administration achieved successes in key sectors and laid the foundations that continue to support the state’s development.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta State, I warmly congratulate our distinguished leader and former Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, on the celebration of his 67th birth anniversary.
“Your journey through public service has been remarkable, reflecting years of sacrifice, resilience and commitment to the progress of our people. From the grassroots to the highest levels of state and national service, you have continued to demonstrate a profound understanding of governance and leadership.
“You remain a respected political leader and statesman whose experience, strategic insight and contributions to the growth of Delta State are deeply appreciated,” the governor stated.
Oborevwori also prayed for God’s continued blessings, sound health, wisdom and many more years of fruitful service for the former governor.
The governor equally felicitated the Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, HRM Stanley Perediegha Luke-Kalanama VIII (JP), describing him as an exemplary traditional ruler whose leadership has strengthened peace, unity and development within his kingdom and across Delta State.
He commended the monarch’s more than 28 years on the throne, saying his reign has been marked by purposeful leadership, stability and consistent advocacy for the welfare of his people.
Oborevwori noted that the royal father has distinguished himself within the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, serving first as Second Vice Chairman before becoming First Vice Chairman, while also championing education through scholarship programmes for deserving youths in Akugbene-Mein Kingdom.
According to the governor, the monarch’s commitment to education and youth empowerment demonstrates a deep understanding of the importance of investing in future generations.
“Your Majesty’s 28 years on the throne have been characterised by dedicated service, wise counsel and an unwavering commitment to the progress of your people and the advancement of the traditional institution in Delta State.
“As you celebrate this important milestone, it is my prayer that Almighty God will continue to bless you with sound health, greater wisdom, strength and many more fruitful years of service to your kingdom, Delta State and our dear country,” Oborevwori said.
The governor wished both celebrants continued good health, divine guidance and many more years of impactful service to Delta State and Nigeria.
