Tragedy on Wednesday morning struck on the Itakpe-Warri rail line when a train crushed a middle-aged man at the Orie-Abraka axis in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
NewsNet gathered that the deceased whose identity was given as Clement Emetoma contested the councillorship position for Orie-Abraka Ward 3 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the last local government election in Delta State but, his name was allegedly removed as the party’s candidate at the dying minute.
He was said to be in the company of a deaf and dumb man who sustained injuries on his leg.
It was further gathered that they were both on their way to the farm when the accident occurred.
Both victims were said to be taken to the Eku Baptist Government Hospital, Eku, Ethiope East Local Government Area.
The deceased was until his death an aide to the Delta PDP Organising Secretary, Olorogun Onoriode Sunday.
In a chat phone with NewsNet Olorogun Sunday expressed sadness over the tragic death of his aide.
