The plot by some leaders of Evwreni Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State to foist new cabinet members on the Ilotu of the kingdom, Priest Jabin Omoko, seemed to have been aborted.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the major contestants for the position of President General of the Evwreni Clan Improvement Union, (ECIU) are now rallying and wowing Priest Omoko and his cabinet members of Ilotu of Evwreni Kingdom to get their support and votes ahead of a new date for the election which was earlier slated for Saturday, November 18, 2023.

The Secretary, Ilotu of Evwreni Kingdom, Mr Elvis Udjuame, in a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria, confirmed that there are no more squabbles over the composition of the Chief Omoko-led Ilotu in Evwreni Kingdom.

Mr Udjuame disclosed that the three major contestants for the position of the President General into ECIU, Chief Kenneth Ukpebitere, Chief Jude Mogu and Chief Simon Asite have paid consultation visits to the Ilotu of Evwreni Kingdom to solicit for their votes.

The Ilotu of Evwreni Kingdom comprises six cabinet members with two members selected from the three communities of Okpahwa, Uneni, and Urevwe communities that make up Evwreni town in the Evwreni kingdom.

The Olotu R’Ode is a traditional title that is owned and occupied by the Okpahwa people of Evwreni kingdom. Priest Jabin Omoko is the Olotu R’Ode and the other cabinet members are the Ilotu.

The Ilotu is one of the key organs of the kingdom saddled amongst others with the responsibility of intervening in the resolution of cases that are charged before it.

Cases that they are not able to resolve are either referred to the king, the Odion R’ode of Evwreni kingdom, or the appropriate government agency such the Nigria police force.
