The Ndokwa nation on Friday, March 13, 2026, recorded a major boost in grassroots education development as students, parents, and community leaders gathered at the Main Hall of Ndokwa House in Kwale for the maiden Ndokwa Girls Quiz Competition and Reading Culture Revival Initiative.
The programme, widely described as a landmark intellectual intervention, was organised by the You Matter Charity Foundation of the Wife of the Governor of Delta State, Tobore Oborevwori, in collaboration with the Women Wing of the Ndokwa Neku Union (NNU).
Although the First Lady was the Special Guest of Honour, she was represented by Mrs Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, whose presence added prestige and colour to the event.

In her message, Mrs Oborevwori urged young people in Ndokwa land to rekindle a strong reading culture and academic discipline as a pathway to leadership and meaningful representation in society.
She also called on parents and guardians to remain committed to investing in their children’s education.
“Education remains the most enduring legacy any parent can bequeath to a child,” she emphasised, while pledging sustained support for the NNU Women Wing in expanding the quiz competition and reading culture initiative across Ndokwa communities.

Delivering her goodwill remarks, Mrs Guwor encouraged the participating students to remain focused on excellence, describing the competition as a platform that could shape future professionals and leaders in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the organisers, the National Women Leader of the NNU, Barrister Cynthia Oputa-Governor, expressed delight at the successful outing, noting that the initiative had long been envisioned as a transformative project for the intellectual empowerment of Ndokwa girls.
According to her, the atmosphere at the event reflected unity and shared purpose among Ndokwa stakeholders.

She praised the contestants for elevating what was initially conceived as a modest academic contest into a vibrant intellectual showcase.
She also commended the support of Mrs Oborevwori and the coordinating team of the You Matter Charity Foundation, whose logistical and mentoring contributions were instrumental to the programme’s success.
The event attracted prominent Ndokwa leaders and stakeholders, including Fidelis Tilije, Johnson Opone, Obi Nzete, Solomon Ajede, Julie Umukoro, Chinonye Dafe, Mary Chidi, Benedicta Osakuni, and Johnson Omoni, among other distinguished personalities.

Their presence underscored growing community commitment to promoting academic excellence and girl-child education.
Barrister Oputa-Governor, while expressing appreciation to contributors and supporters, described the competition as the first all-inclusive Ndokwa Girls Quiz initiative, designed to institutionalise the revival of reading culture across schools in the area.

Observers say the programme marks a significant step toward strengthening literacy, leadership development, and intellectual confidence among young girls in Ndokwa land — a development many believe could have long-term social and economic impact.
