The remains of Mama Newe Urowoli Emami, fondly called “Mama Newe”, mother of former chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon Matthew Mofe Edema, have been laid to rest at her residence on Aritetsoma Street, Ajamimogha, Warri, Delta State.

The final journey of Mama Newe Urowoli to Mother Earth began on Friday, March 22, 2024, with a Service of Songs at her residence on Aritetsoma Street Ajamimogha, Warri.

Ministering, Bishop Mike Oyemiren of Grace of Glory Tabernacle, Ubeji, stressed the need for those who have not given their lives to Christ to do so instead of procrastinating as tomorrow may be too late.

Praise Day as it was otherwise tagged, Hon Mofe Edema and his siblings joined by former Delta First Lady, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan and others sang and danced to the glory of God who kept Mama Newe Urowoli Emami to a ripe old age of 109 years.

The following day, Saturday, March 23, 2024, the body of the late Mama Newe Urowoli was conveyed from Safe Heaven Mortuary Services in Okumagba Layout, Warri, in a motorcade for a brief stopover at her family compound, 12 Idimi Jakpa Quarters Okere Warri, and thereafter, to her residence at Aritetsoma Street Ajamimogha, Warri, for interment.

A colourful reception held at Atuwatsw II Primary School popularly known as Rice Farm on Esisi Road, Okere Warri, attracted eminent personalities from far and near including the Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, Speaker of the State Legislature, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, wife of former Delta State Governor, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, the member representing Warri South Constituency One in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Austin Uroye and the Senior Political Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo.

Deaconess Uduaghan and Hon Uroye paid glowing tributes to the late Mama Newe Urowoli for her commitment to the good upbringing of her children and positively impacting the lives of those who come across her.

Mrs Mary Kehinde Clarke, the first daughter of the late Mama Newe Urowoli, her second child, Mr Alex Edema, her third child, Hon Mofe Edema and the last born, Prince Stanley Emiko, described their mother as a very loving and caring person and expressed profound thanks to God for keeping their her strong till her old age.

The late Mama Newe Urowoli, was born in 1914 at Ajudaibo in Escravos to the family of Emami-Otiri of Obaghoro and Okere, Olueh of Ugborodo, Miemie of Kantu, and Tovwie of Okwagbe town of Delta State.

She was blessed with eleven children but survived by four at her demise.
