Senator Magnus Abe has declared that genuine loyalty to President Bola Tinubu cannot coexist with political hostility towards the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Abe made the statement while expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for appointing him Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, a position he described as a platform to contribute to Nigeria’s economic transformation.
His remarks, posted on Facebook on Tuesday, were widely interpreted as a direct message to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara amid ongoing political tensions in the state.
“Let me also thank the ‘001 of the Tinubu political family in Rivers State’, the FCT Minister, the man who did what no other politician has ever been able to achieve: delivered Rivers State to Tinubu and the APC in the most difficult election in the history of Nigerian politics,” Abe stated.
He emphasised the importance of gratitude and loyalty, noting, “No one can claim to love Mr President and be ungrateful to our ‘Mr Project’. His support at a critical point meant a lot to our success as a family and continues to be pivotal to the success of the Tinubu family in Rivers State, which has formed into a unique rainbow coalition called the Renewed Hope Family.”
Abe described President Tinubu as “a father that rewards genuine loyalty and promotes competence,” adding, “I will never stop following you.”
He also expressed personal appreciation to Wike, referring to him affectionately as “our Nyerishi,” and acknowledging the minister’s role in mobilising Rivers State support for Tinubu despite Wike’s PDP roots.
Highlighting the significance of his appointment, Abe said, “This role gives me a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of our country, especially in the key economic sector, and demonstrates the President’s unique qualities as a master of the game.”
He urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reform agenda, ignore naysayers, and remain hopeful for the country’s progress.
