The Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun John Nani, has felicitated with former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Festus Ovie Agas, as he clocks 66 years, describing him as a seasoned statesman whose contributions to governance remain deeply rooted in Delta State’s political history.
In a congratulatory message on Wednesday, Nani commended Agas for a life defined by service, noting that his 66th birthday offers an opportunity to reflect on decades of dedication to public administration and institutional development.
“Sixty-six years in the life of Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas is not just a celebration of age, but of impact,” Nani said. “He is a public servant whose experience spans the legislative and executive arms of government, and whose contributions have helped shape governance in Delta State.”
Agas served as a member and Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, before going on to hold critical executive positions as Secretary to the Delta State Government and Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba.
He currently serves as a member of the Governing Council of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
According to Nani, the celebrant’s continued relevance at 66 is anchored on his calm temperament, deep institutional knowledge, and strategic approach to leadership.
“At every stage of his public career, he demonstrated maturity, balance, and a commitment to the collective interest of the state,” Nani noted. “Even today, his voice and counsel remain important to governance and institutional stability.”
The DESOPADEC chairman prayed for continued good health and strength for the former lawmaker, expressing optimism that his experience would remain useful to Delta State.
“As he marks his 66th birthday, I join his family, friends, and associates in celebrating a man of honour. May God grant him long life, sound health, and the wisdom to continue contributing meaningfully to the progress of Delta State,” Nani added.
