Indigenes of Iwhrekreka Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to expand the pipeline surveillance contract of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited to cover all NNPCL pipelines across the country.
They made the appeal during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting at the community town hall, convened to appreciate Tantita Security Services for meaningfully engaging youths of the area through its pipeline surveillance operations.
With songs of solidarity, community members, including elders in council, Eqwaya, Emete, and youths, passed a vote of implicit confidence on Tantita Security Services, its Chairman, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), and the Managing Director, Chief Keston Pondi, describing the firm as a top-tier security outfit in the Niger Delta with an impressive performance record.
Reading the community’s message of appreciation, the Unueworo of Iwhrekreka, Olorogun Freeborn Ayoma, commended Tantita for its “outstanding efforts in curbing oil theft and pipeline vandalism across the Niger Delta region.”
“Tantita has performed exceptionally well in salvaging Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, which was once on the verge of collapse,” Ayoma said. “Your expertise and professionalism in safeguarding vital oil facilities remain second to none. We say a big thank you.”
He also praised Tantita’s community development initiatives, noting that the company’s employment of indigenes within its operational areas has boosted human capital development and improved local economies—aligning with the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The community further expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for entrusting Tantita with the crucial national assignment, describing it as “a demonstration of the true spirit of the Local Content Act and indigenous participation in the oil and gas sector.”
The community President General, Comrade James Onovughe, joined Ayoma in describing Tantita as “a major game-changer” whose excellent performance has contributed to stabilizing national oil output toward the 1.8 million barrels per day target.
They urged the Federal Government to expand Tantita’s operational mandate to other regions to further enhance oil production and revenue generation.
The duo noted that Tantita’s intervention has restored sanity to previously devastated waterways and creeks once dominated by oil thieves and vandals.
While rating the firm highly for its humanitarian projects, the community appealed to Tantita to extend its development initiatives to Iwhrekreka by assisting in constructing the Eqwaya Hall and installing streetlights.
Comrade Onovughe added: “Years back, those opposing Tantita also had similar contracts, but our community never benefited. Today, an Ijaw man, who is not even from our tribe, has given us jobs through Tantita. That shows the difference.”
Other speakers, including Pastor Dominic Obagbuomoamre, Hon. Solomon Toka, Comrade Moses Okpadah, and Mrs. Henlyn Sasoko, commended Tantita’s remarkable contribution to national oil security, describing the company as “the only viable solution to increasing oil production across Nigeria.”
The highpoint of the event was the formal passage of a vote of confidence on Tantita
