The Isoko Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has sent congratulatory messages to all the newly elected Delta State House of Assembly candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, of Isoko extraction.

The three elected members in the March 18, 2023, governorship and House of Assembly elections are Bernard Odior, Bino Owhede and Ferguson Onwo.

The members-elect are from Isoko North Constituency, Isoko South Constituency 1 and Isoko South Constituency 11 respectively.

The Chapel’s congratulatory message is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, Comrade Michael Ilaya and Secretary, Comrade Matthew Unyove.

The Chapel stated that it was indeed a keen contest laced with a lot of political vagaries but took hard work as well as strategic bold strides for the victory at the polls.

“We further wish to add that those who contested with you are all fantastic and reputable Isoko sons who had exhibited political prowess and capacity to leadership by contesting to contribute their bit to the development of our various constituencies and Isoko nation in general.

It is on this premise that, we appeal that the election should be seen as “No Victor, No Vanquish”.

“We take it as victory for your various constituents for the fact that, at the end of the day, we all will still dwell together and remain brothers and sisters of One Great Isoko Nation.

“Also, we advice all the Isoko House of Assembly members-elect that they should be magnanimous in victory by carrying everybody along to achieve inclusiveness in the spirit of your genuine intent to have contested which we believe was for the love and interest of your constituencies and Isoko nation at large,” said the Chapel.

Continuing, the Union emphasized that “as the canopy of all journalists in Isoko nation, we will remain undeterred to our constitutional mandate of holding every arm of government accountable through our routine and investigative reports.

“We assure that we will not shy away from making our sincere contributions to the growth and development of the socio-economic and political focus of the Isoko nation and Delta State in general.”
