The words of a famous writer, Paul L. Powers which says, “A happy memory is a hiding place for unforgotten treasures”, came to the fore on Thursday as members of the 1986 Class of Hussey College Warri in Delta State, converged and celebrated themselves in the Oil City at an end-of-year get-together with their families and friends.

The well attended social gathering was a great homecoming for the “86 classmates (popularly known as HCW “86).

It was an atmosphere of love and comradeship as the old students who came from all parts of Nigeria and beyond to felicitate with one another exchanged pleasantries and recalled with excitement the good old days.

The Hussey College old students known for their unity and love for one another appreciated the Almighty God for preserving their lives to date and thanked Him for His grace and mercy which enabled them to celebrate at the end of 2021.

For the visibly elated host, Asimu Momoh, it was a heartwarming experience as he expressed happiness at the success of the ceremony, noting that it provided a platform for members of Class of “86 to bond again after decades of graduation from Hussey College Warri. He added that the reunion party was put together by members of the Class from within and outside Nigeria.

Momoh commended the HCW “86 for giving back to their Alma Mater in terms of projects such as the renovation of the computer laboratory, including the replacement of its old windows with modern aluminium panels; the purchase of 50 ray boxes for the Science Laboratory, including the provision of reagents and chemicals; as well as planting of 86 trees to beautify the landscape of the prestigious Hussey College, Warri.

The highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of a brand new laptop to one of them who is currently a Physics teacher in Hussey College, Mr Earnest Esijemide, for his stewardship and outstanding representation of Class of “86.

Other “86 Classmates thanked God for helping them to survive “the economically turbulent year 2021,” and prayed God to better the years ahead for them and their families.
