One-time Delta State House of Representatives aspirant for Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Godfrey Ishegbe has bagged the StirAfrica Television role model award.

Ishegbe is the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Optig Group, a conglomerated company with business interests in Oil and Gas, Real Estate Development, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Commodities and Hospitality/Tourism.

The broadcast outfit role model award was presented to Hon Ishegbe, a former Director of Partnership and Collaborations of Nigeria Young Professionals, last Thursday at the Transcorp Hilton hotel in Abuja in recognition of his immense contributions to the welfare and mentorship of over 200 young people both at home and in the Diaspora.

His non-profit organisation, WeCare Initiatives, a US-based 501(c)3 corporation has been able to provide 50 scholarships to less privileged children in Nigeria, medical supplies and outreaches to rural health centres, school materials, uniforms and sandals to primary school children as well as skill acquisition boot camps, entrepreneurship and mentorship programs called “Catch them young”.

In his acceptance speech, the Covenant University graduate of Marketing thanked the organisers of the StirAfrica awards for recognising his humanitarian efforts and outreaches pledging to continue contributing to the welfare and development of his people.

Ishegbe, a native Okurekpo community under Okpara Federal Ward 4 in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State ran for the House of Representatives seat in the 2019 general elections.

He served as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Political to the immediate past Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, until February 27, 2023, when he resigned from his appointment and as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
