Millions of football fans worldwide will be glued to their television sets or any other devices by which they will watch the Nigeria-South Africa football epic.

The titanic semi-final clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will kick off to schedule Wednesday, February 7th at 6 pm Nigerian time at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Ivory Coast.

Both countries will be showcasing their finest players.

Nigeria’s lineup will boast of stars like Ademola Lookman, reigning CAF Africa Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen, Stanley Nwabali, and Alex Iwobi.

At the same time, South Africa will parade the likes of Percy Tau, Themba Zwane, Teboho Mokoena, and Rowen Williams.

To arrive at this juncture, both teams took unexpected tension-soaking and most times heart-stopping routes.  Nigeria secured their spot by finishing second in Group A, before moving forward to overcome Cameroon and Angola as they flew across the football pitch.

South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, after finishing runners-up in Group E woke up to a stunning display of football artistry by brushing Morocco and Cape Verde aside to reach their first AFCON semi-final in 24 years.

But, fortunes seem to favour the Super Eagles of Nigeria whose historical encounters show they have trounced South Africa eight times in 15 encounters over the years.

South Africa will not be waiting to be sent packing as they are expected to fight to secure the limelight in the finals.

For both teams, their players and supporters know what is at stake and anticipation is sky-high for another captivating clash reminiscent of Nigeria’s 4-0 victory in the 2000 AFCON.

It promises to be an intense battle between the two titans with great defensive powerhouses looking forward to being in the spotlight at the February 11 finals.
