DTHA will treat 2022 Appropriation Bill with dispatch – Ochor

The leadership and members of the Delta State House of Assembly have commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the prompt presentation of the 2022 Appropriation Bill.

The Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ochor Christopher Ochor in his remarks before a motion to express the gratitude of the House to the Governor after his address to members, assured that the House will treat the proposed budget estimates with prompt dispatch.

The Deputy Speaker, Ochor Ochor said the Appropriation Bill christened “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Accelerated Development”, is appropriate considering the dynamic nature of the world economy.

Rt Hon Ochor assured that the House will carefully examine the details of the budget for the purpose of transforming same for the benefits of all Deltans.

The Deputy Speaker stated that the Standing Committees of the House will earnestly engage all ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs of government with due process as members consider the provisions of the proposed budget.

He also promised that the House will ensure effective oversight of the budget to achieve full implementation in order to drive home the Stronger Delta vision of the state government.

Rt Hon Ochor recalled the policy trust of the past budget presented to the House by Governor Okowa since assumption of office, said all efforts were geared towards the diversification of the economy from solely dependence on oil to human capital development and agriculture.

The Deputy Speaker commended the governor for increased investment in youth entrepreneurship, efficiency in expenditure through stringent control on non-productive ventures and judicious allocation of resources and cost, as well as educational and massive infrastructural development, and improved security and public confidence in governance in the state.
