The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has described as shocking and devastating, news of the sudden death of the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Tim Owhefere on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.

The Speaker said he was broken by the demise of the lawmaker, who until his death, represented Isoko North Constituency.

While commiserating with the wife, children, family, friends and associates of Hon Owhefere, Rt Hon Oborevwori stated that he have lost a dependable colleague, quintessential lawmaker and a friend.

He said his heart goes out to the Isoko nation for this huge loss.

The Speaker explained that Hon Owhefere died when his vast and expansive legislative experiences were most needed, noting that his demise has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

He said while he takes solace in the works and memorable moments they spent together as fellow lawmakers, he will forever remember the commitment of Hon Owhefere to duties and loyalty to friendship.

Rt Hon Oborevwori emphasized that it is a difficult moment for his constituents, promising that the House will endeavour to keep his laudable achievements alive rather than question the circumstances of his death.

He noted that It is an act of God, painfully though but cannot be questioned, even as he wished the soul of the fallen lawmaker eternal rest.

Also, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has expressed profound shock and sadness over the death of its party faithful and Majority Leader in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Tim Kome Owhefere.

A statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, the party noted that the late Majority Leader was a loyal party man and leader, who exemplified all that is good in a politician and ardent representative of his people in the hallowed chamber of the House of Assembly.

“His skill and deft political moves that have helped in the peaceful and smooth running of the affairs of the House, and especially in his relationship with the Executive Arm of Government has been superlative, and this will surely be missed with his sudden demise.

“Hon Tim Owhefere was an assiduous workman, who believed in ensuring the well being of his constituents; a team player, loyal party member, one that believes in party supremacy; and exerted himself in working for peace and tranquillity. The PDP in Delta State has lost a gem; we shall surely miss his wisdom and experience,” Dr Osuoza stated.

The party condoled with the family and members of the State House of Assembly, his constituents in Isoko North and prayed that God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Hon. Owhefere died at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, where he was receiving treatment.
