The Delta State Government has directed all public and private secondary schools in the state to resume on Monday, September 8, 2025, for the commencement of the 2025/2026 first term academic session.

A statement issued by the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Schools, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Patricia Iniovosa-Okakwu, on behalf of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, stated that boarders are expected to return on Sunday, September 7.

The statement emphasised that teaching and learning must begin immediately on Monday, after students have cleaned their classrooms under the supervision of their teachers.

It recalled that principals and teachers were earlier directed to resume on Monday, September 1, to commence administrative tasks, including the admission of new students.

The Ministry urged school heads and teachers to strictly adhere to the resumption directives with full commitment and to ensure effective implementation of the school calendar.
