The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Delta State Chapter, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of former Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi, who died on Friday, December 19, 2025.

In a press statement signed by Dr. Michael Tidi Esq., Secretary of the Delta State Caretaker Committee, the party extended heartfelt condolences to the Nwaoboshi family, the people of Ibusa community in Oshimili North Local Government Area, the constituents of Delta North Senatorial District, and the government and people of Delta State.

The PDP described Senator Nwaoboshi as a statesman whose life and service embodied courage, dedication, and unwavering conviction.

Quoting the Roman poet Horace—“Non omnis moriar” (I shall not wholly die)—the party said the late senator’s legacy would continue to resonate across Delta State and Nigeria’s political landscape.

The PDP said the late senator was a principled leader, a loyal party man and an administrator par excellence whose contributions to governance and party politics remain indelible.

The party prayed for divine comfort for his family and eternal rest for his soul, describing him as an “Oracle” whose impact would not be forgotten.

“Good night, Oracle. May your resourceful soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement read.

Senator Nwaoboshi began his public service journey in 1979 as an aide to the then Military Governor of Bendel State, Brigadier-General Samuel Ogbemudia.

He later earned his LL.B and LL.M degrees, laying a solid foundation for a career that spanned governance, administration, and party leadership.

He served in several strategic capacities, including Political Adviser to Governor James Ibori, Commissioner for Agriculture and Special Duties, and Chairman of the Nigerian Railway Corporation.

As Chairman of the PDP in Delta State, he was credited with instituting far-reaching reforms, strengthening internal discipline, and overseeing the construction of the party’s state secretariat.

Elected Senator for Delta North Senatorial District in 2015, Nwaoboshi served two terms in the National Assembly until 2023. During his tenure, he was a prominent member of key committees, notably the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he advocated for development and equitable policies for the region.
