Delta Assembly to consider report on persons living with disabilities bill March 12

Delta State House of Assembly joint Committees on Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Service and Special Committee on Bills, has summited its report on the Delta State Persons Living with Disabilities Bill.

The House at its Wednesday plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor received the joint committee’s report for further legislative actions.

Motion to receive the report was moved by the Majority Leader, Hon Emeka Nwaobi, seconded by the member representing lka North East constituency Hon Marilyn Okowa-Daramola and adopted.

The Speaker Rt. Hon Emomotimi Guwor, ruled that the report would be considered at the Committee of the Whole House on Tuesday, March 12.

Earlier, the Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Girl Child Entrepreneurship and Humanitarian Support Services, Hon Bridget Anyafulu, while presenting the joint committee report, said towards achieving its assignment, the joint committees held a public hearing on the Bill on Monday, February 26, were it received memoranda from interested stakeholders, including contributions and presentations which aided its assignment.

Anyafulu who represents Oshimili South in the House, explained that after thoroughly considering the relevant materials and facts, the committee proposed some amendments for further deliberations and possible approval by the House.
