Members of the Delta State House of Assembly Minority Caucus have dissociated themselves from media reports on the alleged planned political shift by one Chief Promise Lawuru ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Minority Caucus in a statement jointly signed by the seven All Progressive Congress, APC lawmakers in the State Assembly, said the use of their group photograph to promote the said media report was unprofessional and misleading.

The Legislators in the statement entitled “RE: SOUTHERN YOUTH LEADER, LAWURU, PLANS MAJOR POLITICAL SHIFT AHEAD OF 2027, MEET APC LAWMAKERS, A REJOINDER”, urged the public to discountenance the said article published on GbaramatuVoice TV and circulating on social media platforms.

They said High Chief Promise Lawuru had, on the 11th of January, 2025, invited them to Oginbiri Celebration Day in Warri North Local Government Area and that three of them honoured the invitation due to prior engagements.

The lawmakers explained that in appreciation for their representative’s attendance, he further invited them to his Warri residence on Saturday, 1st February 2025, for a breakfast meeting in which no discussion regarding the performance of the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori or 2027 election ensued as purported by the media publication.

They decried the use of photographs taken during the breakfast meeting to promote a different narrative, saying the photographs have no relationship with the content of the publication.

The statement reads “Our attention has been drawn to the misleading article published by GbaramatuVoice TV, which has been circulating on social media platforms. We deem it necessary to set the record straight and provide clarity on the facts.

“On January 11, 2025, High Chief Promise Lawuru invited us to the Oginbiri Day Celebration at Ogbinbiri, Warri North LGA. Unfortunately, only three (3) of our legislators were able to attend due to prior commitments.

“That on February 1, 2025, High Chief Lawuru invited us to his Warri residence to express gratitude for our representatives” attendance at the Oginbiri Day Celebration. We had breakfast together and departed.

Continuing, the APC Lawmakers said, “It is essential to note that no discussions whatsoever took place regarding issues of Delta State Governor’s performance in office or 2027 election as mentioned in the publication. The use of photographs taken from the visit to Chief Lawuru to promote a different narrative is unprofessional.

“We advise the public to disregard the content of the publication, as the
accompanying pictures do not represent the misleading and misinformed article.

“It is worthy of note that as an Assembly, we have a cordial working relationship with the Governor, and we do not have any reason to have had such conversations,” the statement stressed.

The statement was signed by Hon. Emakpor Edafe Esq (Minority Leader and Member representing Uvwie State Constituency), Hon. Ebitonmo Anthony Alapala, (Minority Whip and Member Representing Burutu State Constituency 1) and Hon. Matthew Onojighofia Omonade, Esq (Member representing Ughelli North Constituency 1).

Others include Hon. Spencer Obakore Owhofa Esq (Member representing Ughelli North Constituency 2), Hon. Collins Ovie Egbetama, Esq (Member representing Udu Constituency), Hon.
