Dafinone Mourns APC National Chairman’s Mother

Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, Dafinone, speaking on behalf of his constituents, described the late Mama Lydia as a devout Christian, a virtuous woman, and a pillar of service to both the church and the community.

He recalled her life of dedication alongside her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshewe Yilwatda, to the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), where they laboured for the propagation of the gospel.

“Mama Lydia Yilwatda lived a fulfilled life in the service of God and humanity. Her humility, faith, and commitment to Christian values will remain a source of inspiration for generations to come,” Dafinone said.

He urged the APC Chairman and his family to take solace in her enduring legacy, praying that Almighty God grants them the strength to bear the loss.

Until her passing, Mama Lydia was widely respected for her service to the church and her community.
