Committed to impacting positively on the development of their alma mater, the Class of 2011 of Army Day Secondary School, Effurun, Old Students Association (ADSSEOSA) on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, embarked on the distribution of educational materials to students of the school.

Army Day Secondary School, Effurun, is strategically located on the busy NPA Expressway close to the popular Effurun Roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The distribution of the educational materials comprising notebooks, uniforms, sanders, biro and pencils were also extended to the Army Children Primary School, also in Effurun.

Accompanying the Chairman of Class of 2011, Comrade Efe Vincent on the distribution of the educational materials were the Vice Chairman, Mrs Obubu Oghenekevwe Emakpor, Secretary, Essi Marywhite Oghenero, other executive members and members of the class.

At the Army Day Secondary School, Comrade Vincent and his team were received by the Principal, Mrs Margaret Ederewhevbe and Vice Principal, Agboifoh Anthonia.

While at the Army Children Primary School, the Assistant Head Teacher, Mr Salubi Rupert, supported by other teachers were on ground to receive the visiting old boys of the school.

Comrade Efe Vincent handing over a roll of school uniform material for future use by the primary school to Mr Salubi Rupert.

They were deeply appreciative on behalf of the students and pupils for the intervention of the Class of 2011 saying the educational materials will go a long way to cushion the financial difficulty most parents go through in catering for their children’s educational needs.

They equally appealed to the old students not to relent in making their contributions to their alma mater since the task of developing the education sector should not be left alone in the hands of the government.

In his separate remarks at the two schools, Comrade Vincent said their gesture was in response to some of the complaints the learners made to them concerning their lack of notebooks, uniforms, sanders and items needed to encourage and enhance their learning.

The Chairman, Class of 2011 said, “We embarked on this exercise to put smiles on the faces of the pupils and students of the two schools and for them to know that they are not forgotten.

“We the Old Students Association ADDSEOSA 2011 set are out here today to distribute thousands of books, pencils, biros, sanders and uniforms to you and give advice to you to see how far and well we want you to grow.

“Whatever we are doing today is setting an example for the pupils and students to know what is coming ahead of them. Whatever we are doing is a way for them to understand that they will one day become the Old Students Association. And what we are doing is expected from them.”

On future plans by the old students, Comrade Vincent said, “The 2011 set of ADSSEOSA has a lot of plans. We are a non-governmental organisation, so we are doing our possible best now. We have plans on how we can assist the school with Mowa for cutting grass, how we can see how the primary school can be repainted”.
