CIE Forum in Delta pledges to improve education sector

Chief Inspectors of Education (CIE) in the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State have pledged their commitments towards improving the education sector in their respective areas of inspection in the state.

The chairman of the forum, Prince Theophilus Alekwe, who stated this during their monthly meeting held in Asaba, the state capital, described the inspectors as critical stakeholders in the development of the education system.

Prince Alekwe, reminded members of the forum that they were ambassadors of the state government, particularly the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, adding that the job of the CIEs includes inspection of schools, among others.

Earlier in her welcome address, the host and the CIE in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Djoma Emiliana, lauded stakeholders in Asaba for their effective collaboration with her office to move the sector forward.

Emiliana, who said that the monthly meeting of the CIEs was a forum where issues that bothering on standards of education were articulated and recommendations channelled to appropriate quarters.

In their separate remarks, some stakeholders, including the Director of Education Resource Centre (ERC), Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Pastor ((Mrs) Joy Biyibi-Godson, Chairman Union of Teachers, Oshimili South Chapter, Comrade (Mrs) Maureen Okonkwo and the  Education Secretary of Oshimili South, Nwanji as well as the Principal of Government Model Secondary School, Dr. (Mrs) Obiajulu Ebonka, who represented ANCOPSS,  said that proper guidance was necessary for improving and achieving educational goals.

They commended the forum for its inspiring efforts at transforming the education system, adding that they would not relent in their tasks to redefine the sector for the benefits of the state.
