Chaos Rocks Delta South APC Women’s Meeting Over ₦50m ‘Kola-Nut’ Fund

Chaos erupted on Wednesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta South women’s meeting over the sharing of ‘kola-nut’ money.

‘Kola-nut’ money, in political circles, refers to funds provided to cover kola-nuts, drinks, transportation, stipends, and other refreshments for attendees at meetings and events.

SaharaReporters reports that the meeting, held at the Isoko South Local Government Secretariat in Oleh, was attended by APC women leaders, female appointees, and elected officials from across the senatorial district.

According to sources, more than ₦50 million had been raised in donations from politicians and government officials across Delta South to fund the event. However, tensions flared when the women leaders allegedly refused to disclose the total amount collected or explain how the funds would be distributed.

Discontented women from the eight local government areas of Delta South reportedly demanded transparency, sparking heated arguments that escalated into a protest and a violent free-for-all. Several car windscreens were smashed, and some organisers fled the venue to avoid being lynched.

One aggrieved APC women leader accused senior party women leaders of colluding to hijack the funds.

“This is very shameful. You called women from eight local governments for the meeting, and our sons and daughters in government donated this money for us. Instead of sharing it, you connived and hijacked everything. What did women do to women? It’s a big shame,” she lamented.

A former PDP women leader, who requested anonymity, blamed the crisis on what she described as greed within the APC ranks.

“What is happening in APC today in Delta is nothing but hunger. Since PDP collapsed into APC, money has been flowing, and that’s why you see hijacks of kola-nut money every time there is a meeting. This same incident happened last month during the men’s Delta South APC meeting in Oleh, when dollars were hijacked,” she alleged.

This is not the first time such a dispute has rocked the party. In June 2025, the Delta South APC Unity and Stakeholders meeting in Oleh also descended into chaos after allegations that party leaders, in collusion with defectors from the PDP, diverted $50,000 in kola-nut money.
