Amori’s senate hope gains more ground as reconciliation with Nani deepens

Chief Ighoyota Amori, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Delta Central Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections on Sunday visited his only challenger in the party’s senatorial primary, Chief John Nani to further mend fences with him and seek his support to enable him to emerge victorious at polls.

Recall that on Monday, May 23, 2022, at the PDP Delta Central senatorial primary which was held at the Sapele Township Stadium in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State, Amori scored 142 of the delegates’ votes against Nani who polled 123, to clinch the party’s ticket.

A few weeks after the senatorial, Nani was reappointed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the Executive Director, Finance & Administration of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, a position he had resigned to contest for the primary.

Amori had before today Sunday spoke of his friendly interactions on phone with Nani who he said was open to reconciliation and reenactment of their long-standing relationship.

The three-time Political Adviser to three past national chairmen of the PDP led members of his Amori for Senate 2023 Campaign Organisation comprising Chief Chris Onogba, Dr Jennifer Adasen, Barr. Arthur Williams, Dr Chris Oharisi, Chief Solomon Oturu, Chief Solomon Obareki and Hon Richard Ofenor to meet with Nani and his team at his residence in Jesse town, Ethiope West Local Government Area.

The Director-General of Nani Senatorial Campaign, Chief Cyril Ogodo, Chief Vincent Oyibode, Chief Austin Atiti, Chief William Nani, Chief Peace Aghomi and Engr Ochuko Gbeburu, joined Chief Nani to receive Chief Amori and his entourage.

In an interview shortly after the visit Amori said, “Today is a family re-union. It tells you that we have come a long way.

“We will continue to remain in PDP. PDP is the only family we know, we don’t know any other party. We are very happy.”

Nani on his part said, “You can see the crowd. Seeing the Amoribility team and John Nani family coming together. PDP will win the elections”.
