“A Reign of Progress Ahead” — Dafinone Hails New Ovie of Udu Kingdom as Oborevwori Presents Staff of Office

Senator representing Delta Central, Ede Dafinone, has congratulated His Royal Majesty, Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, JP, KP, Okporua I, on his official presentation of the Staff of Office as the Ovie of Udu Kingdom by the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

In a statement issued on Friday, Senator Dafinone described the ceremony as a historic and proud moment for Udu Kingdom and the wider Urhobo nation.

He commended the monarch’s professional accomplishments and humanitarian service, noting that his emergence reflects strong confidence in his leadership capabilities.

“Your ascension to the throne stands as a testament to your outstanding leadership qualities, a successful professional career, and a deep commitment to serving humanity,” the senator said. “I am convinced that your reign will bring renewed hope, progress, and stability to Udu Kingdom.”

Dafinone also lauded the people of Udu for the peaceful and harmonious process that led to the monarch’s selection, coronation, and subsequent presentation of the Staff of Office.

He called on all sons and daughters of the kingdom to continue to support the traditional ruler in unity and loyalty.

He expressed prayers for the monarch’s reign to be characterised by peace, prosperity, and the strengthening of cultural heritage.

“As you embark on this sacred journey of royal service, I pray that the Almighty God grants you divine wisdom, sound health, and long life. May your reign be marked by peace, prosperity, and unity,” Dafinone added.

The presentation of the Staff of Office officially confirms HRM Okporua I as the custodian of traditional authority in Udu Kingdom, located in Delta State’s Urhobo-speaking region.
