Warri Wolves have shifted attention to their next Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Kwara United at home in Ozoro on Sunday, following Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Rivers United in Port Harcourt.
The Seasiders are still searching for their first point of the season after conceding in the 21st minute and late in the second half at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
Warri Wolves made three changes at the start of the second half as Head Coach Hassan Abdallah sought to add more attacking bite to the team’s efforts. Ayila Olayemi replaced Sanni Ahmed, Olisema Cyril came on for David Joseph, while Isreal Oladeji replaced Blessing Ndubuisi.
The changes, though brought more bite to the team in the second half, it however, could not prevent the home side from extending their lead late in the encounter to secure all three points.
Speaking in a post-match interview, Coach Abdallah said he expected more from the players based on the drills and preparations leading up to the match.
The coach, however, said he was not disappointed, describing the team as a work in progress with several young players who have now faced two top sides away from home.
Abdallah expressed confidence that the players would gradually blend as the season progresses, while stressing that attention has now shifted to how the team handles its next assignment.
Warri Wolves will welcome Kwara United to their home ground in Ozoro on Sunday, with the Seasiders looking to put the Rivers United result behind them and continue building the team for the campaign.
