WADO CITY ADVOCACY GROUP DEBUNKS FALSE ALLEGATIONS BY UMUKORO EFEMENA
The attention of the Wado City Advocacy Group has been drawn to a viral video circulated by one self-acclaimed activist, Umukoro Efemena, in which he falsely links our respected advocacy to violent activities and the demise of Mr. Liberty Kunu.
Ordinarily, we would not dignify such reckless propaganda with a response. However, in the interest of public clarity and to set the records straight, we consider it necessary to address these baseless claims.
OUR POSITION
The Wado City Advocacy group is a peaceful, non-violent, and law-abiding organization. We are an intellectual body, a social cultural movement committed to the promotion and preservation of Urhobo values, heritage, unity, progress, culture, traditions, and developmental interests across Urhobo territories.
Our wide recognition and acceptance within and across the various society is a result of these core values.
At no time has Wado City Advocacy been involved in criminality, violence, or the breach of any societal or constitutional law.
ON THE FALSE CLAIMS
It is quite disheartening that a propaganda like Umukoro Efemena, openly displayed an action of a paid activist, with the aim to gain cheap popularity by dragging the Wado City Advocacy group into a matter that is clearly unrelated to the group.
The death of Mr. Liberty Kunu in Sapele was not a tribal conflict, nor was it connected to Wado City Advocacy. It was a criminal matter involving the Nigerian Police Force and an alleged kidnapper, as officially confirmed by the Delta State Command of the Nigerian Police Force on January 30, 2026.
The police, in their statement, admitted responsibility for the killing, describing Mr. Kunu as a suspected cultist and kidnapper linked to multiple cases of abduction and other heinous crimes.
You Efemena Umukoro cannot get bittered with a DPO in the Nigeria Police Force and sametime transfer your aggressions to Wadocity advocacy group.
QUESTIONABLE MOTIVES
Umukoro Efemena, who once claimed to be a supporter and promoter of Wado City Advocacy, cannot suddenly turn against the same movement whose values he fully understood and publicly endorsed.
His attempt to fight Urhobo interests under the guise of friendship with neighboring ethnic groups does not justify his decision to assume the role of a paid propagandist and ethnic jingoist.
How can a sane individual accuse Wado City Advocacy of actions he is simultaneously attributing to the Nigerian Police Force?
This pattern of clout chasing and misinformation exposes his ignorance and irresponsibility.
Let it be known: Urhobo nor dey born mumu.
OUR CALL
We urge the general public to disregard the false, malicious, and unfounded allegations made by Umukoro Efemena against the Wado City Advocacy group.
We also call on:
The Delta State Government
The Department of State Services (DSS)
The Nigerian Police Force
All relevant security agencies
to sternly warn Umukoro Efemena to desist from introducing ethnic and tribal sentiments into this matter, as such actions are capable of inciting the public and threatening the peace we currently enjoyed.
COMMITMENT TO PEACE
The Urhobo people are known for their hospitality and peaceful coexistence, we will continue to promote and proudly uphold these values.
By the grace of God, we have a Governor who is doing MORE for our people, and we remain committed to supporting the developmental strides of the Delta State Gov. His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff O. Oborevwori.
Urhobo adage:
Õrakpõyovwē ji muorhan?
(Does he who enjoys life accuse witches?).
We call on all Deltans to work together in unity to promote peace, stability, and progress across the state.
God bless the Urhobo Nation.
God bless Delta State.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Signed:
Wado City Media Team
