President Bola Tinubu has approved a reorganisation in the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, the President announced the following new appointments: General Olufemi Oluyede — Chief of Defence Staff (replacing General Christopher Musa), Major-General W. Shaibu — Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke — Chief of Air Staff and Rear Admiral I. Abbas — Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
President Tinubu, who serves as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed his deep appreciation to General Christopher Musa and the outgoing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service, dedication, and exemplary leadership.
He charged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by further enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and unity within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
All appointments take immediate effect.
