Dr Michael Tidi’s led administration of Warri South Local Government in Delta State has begun rehabilitation of the deplorable portion leading to the popular Warri Central Hospital.

Work on the failed section of the road which connects the second gate of the hospital commenced on Saturday, and it is expected to be completed in seven days’ time.

The poor condition of the section of the road had hampered emergency responses of the hospital, which has its Accident/Emergency Unit situated close to the exit gate to the road.

The failed portion of the road also is the close and easy access to the morgue of the hospital to guide against distractions while moving human corpses in or out of the hospital.

Chairman of Warri South Council, Dr Tidi told NewsNet Nigeria that his administration is intervening to rehabilitate the bad section of the road to make it motorable and save lives in emergency cases brought to the hospital.

Tidi who stated that the rehabilitation work is among several interventions on failed portions of roads, particularly in the Warri metropolis by his government.

“My administration is doing its best in road rehabilitation based on available funds because our people need to move freely. And the ongoing rehabilitation of failed section of the road to the second or back entrance to the Warri Central Hospital is very sensitive and important.

“It is very sensitive because it also serves as easy access to the ‘A’ Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Warri. When completed it will boost the small businesses on the stretch of the road that have been greatly affected by the deplorable condition over time,” said Tidi.

The supervisor of the road job for Warri South Council, Pastor David Erhinyodavwe and the Site Engineer, Engr. Sylvester Ebeye explained that the rehabilitation work on the failed section of the hospital road involves distilting of the drains to allow for free flow of water, thereby guiding against flooding of the area, excavation, sand filling and tarring.

They promised to work to deliver the job in seven days, especially because of the increasing rains this period.

It would be recalled that the Tidi-led administration of Warri South Government has carried out similar rehabilitation of the Estate Roundabout, Mclver road and other failed portions of roads in the council area while also vigorously pursuing the environmental sanitation of the area for healthy living of the people.
