Three kidnap suspects die from mob attack in Delta

Three suspected kidnappers have died from a mob attack at Oghara, headquarters of Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State.

A statement on Wednesday by the Delta State Police Command Acting Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe, said the deceased suspects were mobbed on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Oghara junction while attempting to kidnap a victim.

The statement said, “Consequently, the Divisional Police Officer Oghara Division mobilised patrol teams and vigilante teams to the scene and rescued the three suspects which includes one Onome Efetobore ‘m’ a notorious criminal that has been on the police wanted list, Collins (surname unknown) also a known notorious kidnapper and armed robber who escaped from Benin correctional facility during endSARS protest and one Glory Reuben ‘m’ also a notorious criminal.

“They were seriously beaten, rushed to the hospital by the police where they were later confirmed dead at General Hospital Oghara. Exhibits recovered include a locally made pistol and three (3) live cartridges.”

Also in the statement, the Command said on Sunday, May 8, 2021, crack teams of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Sapele Division, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi, rescued a kidnap victim, Jeffrey Emekume and also recovered his Lexus jeep with which he was kidnapped on the Eku Abraka road.

According to the statement, “The hoodlums who could not withstand the relentless effort of the police abandon the victim and fled.”
