The Delta State University, Abraka, has fixed Monday October 5, 2020, as the resumption date for the second semester of 2020/2021 academic session.

The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare had last week Wednesday revealed that academic activities will return to tertiary institutions in the state on October 2nd.

The institution’s bulletin states that students would resume in phases as a result of the COVID-19 protocol and part of measures to checkmate the spread of coronavirus in the university community.

The bulletin titled “Re-Opening of the University after the Ease of the Covid-19 Lockdown”, however, directed all members of staff of the university to immediately resume work in preparation for resumption.

It stated that postgraduate, graduating (400 & 500 levels) and 100 level students would resume academic activities between Monday 5th – Saturday 31 October, 2020.

“This is to inform the university community, particularly staff and students that Management at its special meeting held on Thursday September 17, 2020 has decided as follows

“All members of staff are to resume work immediately in preparation for resumption of academic activities scheduled for Monday 5 October, 2020. Please note that all categories of staff are to resume work at 8.00 am and close at 4.00 pm.”

Similarly, the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, has also approved Monday September 28 as resumption date for National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students.

It, however, directed ND1 and HND 1 students to return to class on Monday October 12

Also, the Delta State Polytechnic, Oghara, has approved Friday October 2 as resumption date for the completion of the first semester examination which was postponed as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus.

A circular by the school authority indicated that the institution’s first semester examination will commence on October 12 for ND11 and HND11 students while ND1 and HND1 students will begin October 26.
