Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Assistant Comptroller of Customs Akpevwe Ogboru, popularly known as Tracta 2, for successfully completing a historic 72-day solo motorcycle expedition from Nigeria to Belgium and back — a feat that has earned her national and continental admiration.
In a statement on behalf of the people of Delta Central, Senator Dafinone described Ogboru’s cross-continental journey as “a powerful demonstration of the indomitable Urhobo Spirit — a spirit of courage, resourcefulness, and unwavering determination.”
Ogboru, a native of Delta State, embarked on the remarkable adventure on August 1, 2025, traversing 22 countries across Africa and Europe before returning triumphantly to Nigeria on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
She was warmly received at the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, marking the completion of an estimated 10,265-kilometre journey on her trusted motorcycle, “Rocky.”
Her expedition, themed “Ride for Women Inclusivity and Cross-Border Research,” was dedicated to promoting women’s empowerment and inspiring the girl-child to pursue her dreams without fear or limitation.
According to Senator Dafinone, Ogboru’s achievement “is not merely a personal milestone but a message of resilience, strength, and purpose to all Nigerians.”
“Her story embodies the perseverance and faith that define our people,” the Senator noted, praising her for overcoming multiple challenges during the trip through sheer willpower and optimism.
With this achievement, Akpevwe Ogboru has become the first female officer of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to embark on and complete such a demanding solo transcontinental expedition.
Her exploit draws parallels to that of the legendary Nigerian globetrotter, Olabisi Ajala, who famously toured the world on a scooter in 1952.
Senator Dafinone commended the NCS leadership for recognising and rewarding service, adding that her journey has “strengthened Africa–Europe relations and projected a positive image of Nigeria on the global stage.”
“On behalf of the Urhobo people, Deltans, and all Nigerians, I celebrate Assistant Comptroller Ogboru for this historic accomplishment,” he stated. “Her courage serves as a vital spark for our youth, showing that with focus and determination, there are no boundaries to what we can achieve.”
He further urged Nigerian women and girls to draw inspiration from Ogboru’s feat and “embrace the limitless possibilities that lie ahead.”
