S’Court orders FG to stop paying LG allocations into State Accounts
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LinkedinShare on Whatsapp

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Thursday outlawed the practice whereby funds meant for local government administration are being paid to the Joint Allocation Account of States (JAAC).

The judgment of the nation’s court arose from a suit filed by the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, advocating the administrative and final autonomy of local governments in the country.

“Before this well considered verdict by the apex court, such local government funds were being paid to and managed through the states’ joint allocation accounts,” Fagbemi said while reacting to the ruling.
