Protest against the recent crackdown on suspected internet fraudsters by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday rocked parts of Delta State.

Recall that on Thursday, September 29, 2022, in a sting operation men of the Port Harcourt zonal command of EFCC arrested 95 suspected internet fraudsters popularly known as ‘Yahoo boys’ in a sting operation at Adesa Ughonton and Jedda axis of Warri in the state.

The suspected ‘Yahoo boys’ also largely dominated last weekend’s Obedient Mega rally in the state with an unconfirmed report that the rally which took place on the 62nd Independence Day anniversary of Nigeria was funded by the ‘Yahoo boys’.

The famous Effurun roundabout in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state was majorly hit by the protest.

The protesters blocked the roundabout over the alleged arrest of some youths in Warri and its environs last weekend by the EFCC.

NewsNet Nigeria gathered that the protest against the anti-graft agency also took place in Ughelli from where the #EndSARS of 2020 began.

The protesting youths carried placards with different inscriptions such as ‘Stop EFCC’ and ‘End EFCC’.

During the protest, some of the youths said that the arrest of the ninety-six young boys and girls was just a mere witch-hunt by the EFCC alleging that the arrested youths are not thieves nor fraudsters.

They challenged officials of the EFCC to go after those defrauding the nation in various forms and leave the Nigerian youths who are getting helping hands from white women and men to cushion the present economic realities in the country.
