Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has described the Supreme Court ruling on the Delta Governorship legal battles as a reaffirmation of God’s unwavering love for the people and government of Delta State.

Reacting to the Supreme Court verdict in the Appeal brought before it by the APC candidate for the election, Ovie Omo-Agege, challenging the result of the 2023 Delta gubernatorial contest, Rt Hon Guwor stressed that what God has approved, no mortal can upturn.

“God is very interested in the affairs of Delta State. He can never allow His glory to be taken away by man. This time in the history of Delta State, God has chosen His Excellency Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori to govern our dear state and He that over sees the affairs of man, shall always protect it”, Guwor said.

The Speaker in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, expressed happiness that the legal battles have finally ended with the Supreme Court judgement, but regretted the enormous resources and distractions the process has caused the state.

He stated that the legal battles could be regarded as unnecessary considering the fact that His Excellency Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori won in 21 out of the 25 local government areas of the state in a land slide during the election.

Guwor however said all focus and efforts will now be channeled to good governance of the state and enjoined the litigants to join forces with the Governor in building the Delta of our dream.

The Speaker congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, all PDP faithfuls and indeed the entire people of Delta State for the victory.

Saying that the ruling has in no small measure restored great hope in the State, Guwor said the Governor needs all the support for the successful implementation of his MORE agenda, geared towards enhancing the wellbeing of Deltans.

He pointed out that the Delta State House of Assembly as a key institution for the development of the state, will maintain its strong partnership with the Executive in promoting peace, unity, progress, prosperity and stability in the state.

“I want to again assure that as great partners in the Advancing Delta Project, the Delta State Assembly under my watch will continue to support the Governor to succeed in the onerous task of building a prosperous state.

“I enjoin every critical stakeholder, including opposition political parties, that politics is over and it’s now time for governance. Let us lend our support to the MORE agenda of the Governor who is determined to take the state to the next level of development”, Guwor said.
