Breaking: Akpowowo wins PDP primary for Ethiope East Constituency

Immediate past Delta State Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Olorogun Arthur Akpowowo has emerged the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, primary for Ethiope East Constituency seat in the state legislature.

Eight aspirants contested for the primary which on Sunday at the Ethiope East Local Government secretariat in Isiokolo, the headquarters of the council area.

Thirty-four Ad hoc delegates drawn from the eleven wards in the area voted in the primary.

In the end, Akpowowo defeated his two close challengers, Chief Faith Majemite and Hon Augustine Ogedegbe to clinch the party’s ticket for the 2023 general elections.

He scored 15 votes, Majemite came second with 10 votes and Ogedegbe polled 9 votes.

Delta State Commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr Barry Gbe led a 3-man team from the state PDP to conduct the peaceful primary under the watchful eyes of representatives of the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, headed by the Electoral Officer, EO, for Ethiope East, Mr Magbegor Ovimu.

There was heavy presence of security personnel to forestall any security breach.
