Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community and Rural Development, Dr Andrew Omagbemi Igban has formally declared interest to contest the People’s Democratic Party, PDP primaries for Warri South-West Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
Dr Igban who made the official declaration during a consultative meeting with PDP executives in Warri South-West Local Government Area said he has all it takes including experience and contacts to provide quality representation to the people at the State Assembly.
The Executive Assistant stated that he had always been deeply involved in activities that promote peace, good governance and development in the state, stressing that his desire to serve at the State Legislature is to further better the lots of the people to the benefit of the society at large.
The former PDP Youth Leader in the state explained that the interactive meeting was to interface with the local government and ward executives of the party and officially inform them of his intention to represent the good people of Warri SouthWest in the State Assembly.
He described the 68 member LGA and ward exco as “super delegates”, maintaining that their individual and collective supports were required to bring the laudable dream to reality.
Dr Igban said, “I am before you my people to solicit for your votes at our party’s forthcoming primaries. Your votes are needed to give me victory. I need no introduction as all of you know me. You know my antecedents. You know I can always deliver. Vote for me and together we will change the narratives for the better in Warri South-West”.
“I passionately appealed to you my dear brothers and sisters, we are in this race together. As statutory delegates, I need your votes. This project is for the betterment of Warri Southwest. I will be most grateful and indebted to you all if I emerged the candidate of the PDP for the State Assembly election in the 2023 general polls”, he emphasized.
Dr Igban who is the President of Eric Igban Foundation, and multiple awards winner, commended the euphoria that greeted his declaration to contest the Warri South-West Constituency House of Assembly election and appealed to all to remain firm in their support.
Responding to a question raised by one of the party officials, Dr Igban stated that his aspiration to represent the people of Warri South-West was to further enhance the quality of life and infrastructure in the constituency.
“I will strive for good governance and drive development to Warri South West. Besides the primary responsibility of lawmaking, all that the oversight function of a lawmaker entails will be vigorously pursued. Most of you know me. I am a believer in human capital development. Anyone can find out more to know what I have done in that regard in the past. I appealed to you all to vote for me and greater positive narratives in our constituency,” he said.
The Chairman, PDP, Warri South-West, Chief Favour Zokumor, commended Dr Andrew Igban for coming to interface with statutory delegates in the local government area, ahead of the party primaries.
Chief Zokumor said he so much cherished the calibres of personalities in the local government area that are showing interest in various electoral contests, maintaining that what makes a party strong is when great men contest elections.
“We are highly honoured by the visit of a great personality to interface with the party on his aspiration. What makes a party strong is when great men like Hon Andrew Igban contest. The message is that PDP is a family affair and the party will give a neutral platform to every aspirant. I urged all to play by the rules. I have that strong belief that after the primaries, the party will come out stronger. This is just the beginning of several politicking in the year”.
“PDP will win all the elective positions in Warri South-West. I urge all PDP supporters and faithful to match on collectively including at the federal level as Nigerians are tired of APC miss rule,” he stated.
Some supporters of Dr Andrew Igban who besieged the venue of the interactive meeting with the part officials, commended his aspiration to represent the people of Warri South-West, describing the development as divine and prayed for victory at the polls.
