The fourteen #EndSARS protesters who were arrested for the alleged killing of a police corporal, Stanley Etaga, in Ughelli, Delta State, last week have been released.

Newsnet gathered that the arrested protesters were released on Thursday following the intervention of Delta Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.

They were arrested following the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, over the killing of the policeman whose service rifle was also carted away by the suspected hoodlums who hijacked the protest.

It was learnt that following legal advice from the State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Mr Peter Mrakpo, Governor Okowa interfaced with the Delta Police Commissioner, Hafiz Inuwa, to release the suspects.

Okowa it was further gathered directed his Justice Commissioner to enter for a Nolle Prosequi (will no longer prosecute) for the detained protesters which led to the state police commissioner ordering their release.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the release of the protesters.
