Police in Delta parade 71 suspects, new CP tasks men to sustain tempo in crime fighting

Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders and Officers and Men of the Delta State Police Command have been charged to sustain the tempo in the fight against criminal elements in the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Ari Mohammed Ali, gave the charge at the Command’s Headquarters in Asaba, while briefing Journalists on some breakthroughs and other achievements recorded by the command in recent weeks.

The Delta State Police Boss said the command is determined to make the state unsafe for criminals, saying that the police was not relenting in its primary assignment to providing adequate security for all law-abiding residents.

Acknowledging that the challenges of crime fighting are enormous but surmountable, CP Mohammed Ali noted that one major achievement since assumption of office in the Command was a stakeholder meeting with herders and farmers in the state, pointing out that the meeting has started yielding the desired results as the herders-farmers crisis has dropped significantly in the state.

He said successes recorded by the command within the period under review, was due to some re-enforcement and proactive anti-crime strategies in the enforcement of law and order without infringing on the rights of citizens.

Speaking on the command’s recent achievements in crime bursting, CP Mohammed Ali, said his men last week Friday stormed the hideout of a kidnap gang at Patani water side Delta state, they were two AK47 Rifles with one hundred and fourteen rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition with six magazines were recovered after a gun duel battle with the criminals.

He disclosed the arrest of suspects who allegedly murdered a Prince of Udu and his police escort, the discovery of an illegal Alcoholic wine factory, arrest of the fake wine producer as well as arrest and recovering of arms, ammunition and other deadly weapons from hoodlums, including cultists and drugs merchants at several locations across the state.

The Police Boss also highlighted the recovery of a stolen Toyota Camry car with register number TE 845 AAA, belonging to a renowned journalist, Mr Felix Ekwu, as one of the other valuable items recovered for the owners by the Command within the period under review.

CP Mohammed Ali stated that it was regrettable that the command lost five of its personnel in recent weeks while combatting crime in the state, promising that those involved will be brought to account for their sins in no distant time.

The Police Commissioner reassured residents that the Command will not relent in its commitment to fighting crimes in the state.
