The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested a leader of a notorious armed robbery gang that specialises in snatching motorcycles in the Kwale axis of Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
A statement by the Command’s Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, said the suspect, Ossai Bright, aged 21 was arrested on Friday along Adege Street, Opposite Ndokwa West Local Government Council while he was attempting to snatch a motorcycle.
According to the statement, a cut-to-size locally-made gun, a knife and one cartridge were recovered from him while an investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of his gang.
The Police Image-maker in the statement also said on Saturday operatives of Eagle Net special squad while on patrol along Aziza Road in Okpe Local Government Area sighted two men suspected to be armed robbers on a motorcycle with a bag.
The suspected robbers according to him on sighting the police jumped down from the motorcycle and escaped into a nearby bush abandoning the blue motorcycle with Registration Number: USL-784 VC registered in Edo State.
Edafe said the motorcycle was recovered while efforts are on for the possible arrest of the fleeing suspects.
He expressed the wishes and thanks of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, to members of the public for their continuous support in the fight against crimes in the state, urging them to sustain the tempo.
