The Delta State Chapter of the Peoples  Democratic Party, PDP has dismissed the recent attack on the former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, by a chieftain of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC in the state.

In a statement by the state PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, the party described the attack which was contained in an article as a poorly written, grammatically appalling illiterate ranting, which is nothing more than shedding useless crocodile tears over spilled milk.

The crudely written article according the PDP was titled: “Monday Igbuya Is A Liability With No Political Value Delta APC Not Trouble About His Exit Is A Welcome Development” and credited to one, Olorogun Godwin Obire, who describes himself as a “Chieftain Of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State Chapter And Chairman Concerned Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN), from Agbarho Orohokpokpor”.

The Delta PDP statement reads below:

Our attention has been drawn to a badly written article, filled with all manner of grammatical errors, misplaced tenses and incoherent arguments, credited to a certain Olorogun Godwin Obire (JP), who describes himself as a “Chieftain Of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Delta State Chapter And Chairman Concerned Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN), from Agbarho Orohokpokpor”.

Ordinarily, the crude language and illiterate nature of the article would have been sufficient to resist any urge to respond and completely ignore the embarrassing grammatical garbage, which shouldn’t even have been seen in public space in the first place, but it behoves on us as a responsible political party, to caution the likes of “Olorogun Godwin Obire (JP), from Agbarho Orohokpokpor,” to stop shedding unnecessary crocodile tears and crying over spilled milk.

It is quite laughable for Olorogun Obire to even suggest that the APC would not lose sleep over the recent rejection of the party by Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya, who returned to his PDP family and was received with pomp and celebration during the Sapele PDP mega rally, which once again showcased and established the might and supremacy of PDP in Delta Central, for all to see.

Godwin Obire in his pained hallucinations, has continued to deceive himself by claiming that the decision of Chief Igbuya to return to the PDP is no big deal and does not pose any threat to the fractured APC and he has even called the former DTHA Speaker names like a political jobber, prostitute, and fair weather politician and a political nobody. How pathetic!

Do we need to remind the Chief from Agbarho Orohokpokpor and self-styled Chairman of the amorphous group called Concerned Nigerians For Better Nigeria (CNBN), that Rt. Hon. Chief Monday Igbuya has been in high-level partisan politics since 1987, riding confidently and successfully through the terrain as a Councilor, State Publicity Secretary of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) in 1993, prominent member of Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) in 1997, and in 1999 as a foundation member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and then LGA Chairman before becoming the Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly?

To have accomplished this mercurial political pedigree in the robust, dynamic, highly active and articulate political nomenclature that has defined the Sapele political landscape, is an unparalleled feat which can only be achieved by an astute political strategist whose understanding of the bigger picture has always been complemented, by his preparedness to grasp the opportunities that have delivered political fortunes to him over the years.

Rt. Hon. Igbuya’s unanimous endorsement by his colleagues to become the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly under the PDP, was a clear testimony of his political tactfulness, loyalty and steadfastness to his allies and leaders of the party and it is such a thing of joy that he realized soon enough, in fact, less than one year after he joined them, ostensibly to fulfill his constitutional right and desire in seeking a National Assembly seat, that the APC is a monumental scam and an unserious and unprepared party that can never win any election in Delta State.

Chief Igbuya does not want to belong to or be identified with APC and its many court cases and factions anymore, all of which have been the hallmark and identity of the party since it was contrived. He has boldly and proudly returned to his rightful home to take his place in the team of winners and champions.

We in the Delta PDP family are overjoyed to have a strong, solid, and distinguished political General once again in our camp, as the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration continues to build our #StrongerDelta and we, as a party, march towards consolidating our position as the number one political party in Delta State and to re-echo our victory chant that ‘PDP is Delta and Delta is PDP’, in 2023.
