There is serious tension as Fulani herdsmen allegedly destroyed a cassava farm worth millions of naira in Oviri-Olomu community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, DAILY POST can report.

The herdsmen and their cows were nowhere to be found.

Their leader simply identified as Garba could not also be reached at the time of this report.

However, there were traces of the footprints of the cows and the herdsmen at the cassava farm.

Tongues are wagging as the owner of the cassava farmer, Pastor Monday Eseoghene count his loss.

The cleric said his wife, Mrs Esther’s health deteriorated when she saw the colossal damage done to their farm by the Fulani herdsmen and their cows.

He said, “They levelled the entire farm down. My wife’s health deteriorated. I had to rush her home immediately.”

Pastor Eseoghene said he had officially reported the matter to the president-general of Oviri-Olomu community and will do the same to the police and other security agencies so that they go there and see with their eyes.

While noting that the herdsmen do not own any land with the indigenes and Oviri-Olomu Community, Pastor said the herdsmen have destroyed his means of survival.

He pointed out that he and his wife who doubles as the spokeswoman of the community have been working on the farm for the past year only to see it destroyed by Fulani herdsmen when they went for harvest this morning.

The cleric called on the Delta State Government, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM. (Dr.)R.L. Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro I JP and the Ughelli South Local Government Chairman to help him and his family get the Fulani herdsmen to settle him by way of compensation for the damages done to his cassava farm measuring 200 by 200 feet.
