Senator Ede Dafinone has welcomed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, to Ughelli for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Otovwodo Flyover, describing the project as a critical intervention that will reshape mobility and economic activity in Delta Central.
In a statement issued on Monday, the senator, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, said the flyover marked a decisive step in the state government’s ongoing infrastructure renewal, noting that the project goes beyond physical construction to address long-standing urban challenges.
Dafinone said the Otovwodo axis had for years remained a major traffic bottleneck in Ughelli, constraining movement and slowing commercial activities.
According to him, the completion of the flyover will significantly ease congestion, reduce travel time and improve the flow of goods and services within the city and neighbouring communities.
He commended Governor Oborevwori’s administration for what he described as a consistent and deliberate approach to infrastructure development across Delta State, adding that the projects being executed align with the governor’s “MORE” Agenda and campaign commitments.
The senator stressed that improved road infrastructure would strengthen Delta Central’s attractiveness to investors, enhance safety for commuters and reinforce Ughelli’s role as a commercial hub in the state.
He also called on residents of Delta Central and the wider state to support the Oborevwori administration, arguing that public cooperation and a peaceful environment were essential for the timely completion of major projects.
Dafinone further urged Nigerians to continue backing the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that coordinated efforts at both state and federal levels were necessary to stabilise the economy and rebuild critical infrastructure.
The Otovwodo Flyover is one of several strategic projects embarked upon by the Delta State Government as part of efforts to modernise urban centres and improve connectivity across the state.
