Omo-Agege Rejected in Ughelli North as One Million-Man March Flops — Oharisi

A political leader in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince Elvis Oharisi, on Sunday, said the people of the area had overwhelmingly rejected former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, resulting in the failure of the One Million-Man March organized in his support.

The march, held on Saturday to promote Omo-Agege’s political ambitions, reportedly sparked widespread controversy, particularly among the youth.

In a strongly worded statement, Oharisi said stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ughelli North, especially the youths, had demonstrated their dissatisfaction with Omo-Agege, whom he described as “a desperate and selfish politician whose aspirations would not serve the interest of the people.”

According to him, “the One Million-Man March lacked genuine purpose and served only as a platform to advance Omo-Agege’s personal agenda.”

“This event is not about us or the issues that matter to us. It’s simply a means for Omo-Agege to boost his own dwindling political image.

“While we appreciate the importance of political engagement, our leaders must prioritize our welfare over personal ambition. Many young people have voiced their frustration with events that do not add value to the polity. We want to see real commitment to our needs, not just grand events that offer little or no substance,” Oharisi stated.

Describing the march as a “show of shame,” Oharisi revealed that fewer than 80 participants showed up, most of whom were allegedly hired from outside the local government area.

He stressed that the rejection of Omo-Agege’s event “serves as a reminder that the people of Ughelli North—particularly the youth—are a significant force that cannot be ignored.”

Oharisi concluded that the failure of the One Million-Man March underscores growing disillusionment among the youth towards what he called the “traditional political maneuvers” of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
