Dr Ominimini Obiuwevbi, a top contender for the 2023 Delta Central Senatorial District race under the banner of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has withdrawn from the race.

Chief Thomas Oduaran, the Chairman, Dr Ominimini Campaign Organisation in a statement electronically sent to NewsNet Nigeria and dated May 3, 2022, said, “our Principal has been genuinely advised and his attention drawn to the fact that the Party, the APC cannot wish that the Gubernatorial & Senatorial tickets be given to the same Constituency, to wit: Constituency 1, in Ughelli North LGA, in the same political Party, the APC, at the same time. This makes a hitherto realizable task difficult, not mindful of the resources that are deployable into the race.

“In view of this, our Principal who has been so advised has withdrawn from the 2023 APC Senatorial ticket race. We, therefore, thank all party leaders/ members and the general public for their support to our principal, Dr Ominimini Obiuwevbi during this period of his aspiration to represent Delta Central at the Red Chamber. We love you and we pray that God Almighty should make this worthy aspiration fruitful in the near future, in Jesus name, Amen.

While stressing the need for Urhobo nation to have a competent, selfless and patriotic person to represent them in the Senate, Oduaran said, “our Principal, Dr Ominimini Obiuwevbi has more than these qualities being an astute, charismatic, accessible, humane, vibrant, eloquent, bold, truthful, very generous and very knowledgeable personality. He is very sound with a high sense of reasoning, significantly accomplished and above all, he has the fear of God. These are the qualities we see in him that made us call on him to join the 2023 Senatorial race under the umbrella of the Ruling Party, the APC.

“Our Principal who has consulted the very top Leadership of the Party in the Senatorial District has received a very high accolade with regards to his competence to Represent the District at the Red Chamber; the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is good to be good and also develop oneself. In fact, It is worthy of note that Dr. Ominimini has marvellously developed himself academically, fully ready for this task since his youthful age. He studied for his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Development Studies and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He did not waste his youthful years. He has the requisite intellectual capacity and capability for this task capable of benefitting the entire Urhobo Race. From those of us who know him over the years, he has remained unwavering towards his credible character as listed above. These are the reasons, we can vouch for him at any time to represent the good people of Delta Central at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
