Following the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), Ndokwa Nation under the umbrella of Organised Ndokwa Effort (ONE) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing their daughter in the Board.
In letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and signed by Okei Ossai Udom, Chairman, Sir Rodney Odibe Odili-Obi, Coordinator and Dr. Ezenwa Nwakonobi, Principal Manager, the Ndokwa people described Lauretta Onochie as one of the leading lights and amazons in Delta North Senatorial District and Delta State, adding that the people of Ndokwa have no fear that she will deliver on the assignment when confirmed by the National Assembly.
The letter appreciating President Buhari reads, “We wish to thank you on behalf of all sons and daughters of Ndokwa extraction and indeed the entire Delta North Senatorial District, for the honour and respect given to our people through your nomination of one of our illustrious daughters, in the person of Lauretta Onochie, for the office of Chairman of the NDDC Board, a position that the senatorial district has never had the privilege of occupying since the establishment and inception of the commission in year 2000.”
“You have once again demonstrated through the instrumentality of the nomination, your love and penchant for equity, fairness and sense of inclusiveness in governance, a feat that is greatly lacked by the leadership of the country for years.
“We wish to place on record, our firm support for your nomination of Lauretta Onochie. She is one of the leading lights and amazons not only of Delta North Senatorial District but the entire Delta State, and we have got no fear that she will deliver on the assignment when confirmed by the Senate of the federal republic of Nigeria.”
While welcoming the incoming NDDC Board Chairman, the Ndokwa people however appealed for recognition of an Ndokwa person as commissioner representing Delta State in the NDDC and executive management team for the recently acquired assets of Addax Petroleum Company by NNPC Ltd.
