Alleged neglect by Sahara Energy: Kolokolo Community debunks media publication

By Nelson Agbajor

The duly elected, accredited representatives and leaders of Kolokolo Community in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have debunked a media publication made by one Mr Roland Mayi and his cohorts stating that Kolokolo Community has been neglected by Sahara Energy Resort Limited.

This development is contained in a press release made available to Journalists refuting the unfortunate media propaganda allegedly orchestrated by some elements and championed by Roland Mayi and his failed team.

The statement signed by Mr Robinson Ayokotse and other duly elected, accredited representatives and leaders of Kolokolo Community in the area, described the online media publication made @Newscure on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, by Roland Mayi and his cohorts claiming to be the President of Kolokolo Community on whose behalf he said is making the fictitious, and malicious protest against Sahara Energy Resort Limited as unfortunate, miss leading, of no effect, a mere window dressing exercise and a fruitless effort on the part of those behind this ungodly act.

The statement reads below:

We wish to use this medium to set the record straight.

1. Mr Roland Mayi has never been at any time elected, appointed or nominated as president of Kolokolo Community, therefore, his claim as president of Kolokolo Community amount to impersonation.

Their agitations, therefore, are fictitious and malicious and have no blessings or local standing from the community.

ii. The Company operating in Kolokolo Community is not Sahara Energy Resort Limited but Sahara Enageed Resource Limited.

iii. This same Roland Mayi whose real name is Roland Maye and his cohorts are vandals and bunkers (oil thefts) and had recently been petitioned against to the Director, State Security Service, Benin City, Edo State by Robinson Ayokotse the duly elected and accredited representatives/ leaders of Kolokolo Community by a letter dated 23rd May 2022.

iv. The same Roland Maye in connivance with his cohorts and sponsors were the same people that have used the Nigerian Army personnel deployed to Kolokolo Community to embarrass, intimidate, harass, molest and deprive the duly elected and accredited representatives/leaders and over 70 well-meaning indigenes of Kolokolo Community from entering the community, since May 2020 in violation of our rights and the order of courts of competent jurisdiction.

v. They even went to court to challenge the authenticity of the Robinson Ayokotse’s led executives and judgement was given in our favour.

Roland Maye, his cohorts and sponsors are impersonators, vandals and oil thieves who have presently vandalized and exploited oil from Sahara Enageed Resource Limited oil pipeline around Kolokolo Community between Tpo4 to Tpo7 respectively. They should, therefore, be arrested and brought to book by the necessary security agencies so that peace can once again be restored to Kolokolo Community and the area.

It is obvious that before now, Sahara Enageed Resource Limited has been performing their social obligations to Kolokolo Community until recently when Roland Maye, Benson Ayokotse, Sunny Modukpe Jacob their cohorts and sponsors took to their way of high-handedness to want to forcefully compel Sahara Enageed Resource Limited to violate a court order and pass through them to the community which Sahara Enageed blatantly refused.

Their nefarious activities in and around Kolokolo has constituted national sabotage, economic degradation, water pollution, other environmental hazard and a dent in the image of the community, therefore, they can not be asking for compensation from Sahara Enageed Resource Limited for spillages that they have created artificiality for their own selfish aggrandizement.

More so, Pa Samuel Asokuarami is not the oldest man in Kolokolo Community, so he cannot be the Olare- Aja. It has been the practice of Itsekiri from time immemorial that the oldest man in the community is the Olare- Aja of the community and this practice remains incontestable.

Sahara Enageed Resource Limited must know that they must at all times respect court judgements irrespective of whatever alliance or threat they get from these criminal elements.”

We are ready to vindicate Sahara Enageed Resource Limited for any right or legal step they take to stop the activities of these national thefts who are illegally parading themselves as executives of Kolokolo Community.

We want to sound it categorically clear that every dealings with Kolokolo Community must be only through Mr Robinson Ayokotse’s led executives, who are the legal, duly elected and accredited representatives of Kolokolo Community recognized by law. Any deviation from this by Sahara Enageed Resource Limited becomes an aberration.

The statement, therefore, calls on all security agencies to take note and act promptly to bring these criminal elements to book so that endearing peace can be restored to Kolokolo Community and its environs.
