As the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2022 Convention draws closer, the Senatorial seats of Ogun State Central, East and West are heating up with many speculations on who would eventually clinch the party’s ticket for each of the three seats.

In Ogun East, many aspirants have emerged including Omo’oba Segun Senbanjo, Otunba Gbenga Daniels and Mr Sola Oduntan.

In Ogun West, Senator Olamilekan Adeola and Gboyega Nasir Isiaka are in the senatorial race.

While in Ogun Central, Princess Olatorera Majekodunmi-Oniru is the only known aspirant under the banner of APC.

Majekodunmi-Oniru and her support groups started the move for her senatorial aspiration in November 2021 and she has since then met with citizens across all 74 wards of 6 local government areas in the district.

According to her posts on social media, she had planned and analyzed the district’s senatorial developments since 2019 and she has a huge, unwavering passion for Greater Ogun and Greater Nigeria.

Also, on her Instagram page @olatoreraoniru, are videos of Ogun Central citizens dancing and singing high praises in favour of Majekodunmi-Oniru for Senate. Some exclaimed loudly “Obinrin (woman) Senator!” With only 3% women in Nigeria’s Senate today, Majekodunmi-Oniru’s win is a win for all.

There have been speculations that other aspirants including cabinet members of the current governor are interested in running for the same seat as Majekodunmi-Oniru but to date, no one else has declared.

Young, energetic, experienced, elegant, beautiful, ambitious and progressive, Majekodunmi-Oniru’s chances of securing the Ogun Central Senatorial seat in 2023 are very high.

She seems to be the leading aspirant ahead of the general elections in 2023.
