Delta State 2023 governorship aspirant, Hon. Ejaife Odebala, says he will continue in the race under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Odebala was among the 13 gubernatorial aspirants from Delta Central Senatorial District of the state, who were on Monday knocked out from the continued pursuit of their ambitions by the Delta Central 2023 (DC-23) screening committee.

Reacting to the development, the former member of the Delta State House of Assembly in a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon, confirmed his acceptance of the first report of Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari’s led 13-man screening committee of DC-23, which axed seven of them from the governorship race.

Odebala in a statement that is currently trending on social media platforms said, “I have heard and read the report of DC 23 screening exercise. And l want to state as follow;

“That I support DC 23 for its quest for Delta central to produce the Governor of Delta state and stand by it 100%.

“That Following my screening out from DC 23 governorship contest, my aspiration for Governor under DC 23 is temporarily ended.

“That DC 23 as a political group may review their actions and support me in future.

“That My aspiration for governor is very healthy and alive. That I am still in the race for Governor under the people’s Democratic Party.

“That all supporters of Odebala for Governor project including DC 23 members who believe in me as I hold our collective aspiration should not be disturbed by this development as we will win the race.

“That I commend the leadership of DC 23 and its screening committee for their effort so far in uniting all aspirants.

“That I commend the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party under the leadership of Olorogun Kingsley Esiso and the leader of the party in the state, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for the unity in the party.”
